I have been documenting the people who left beirut after the explosion and have temporarily settled in hotel rooms/furnished apartments in Dubai. The irony lies in the fact that we have fled the dystopian landscape of our destroyed home city, to live in another form of dystopia that has disguised itself as a utopia where we can restart our lives. We’re still waiting for our psyches to match the clean cut pristine fake glam that is now our new context.
